Ready for your very first flight?  Our Trial Introductory Flight (TIF) is an ideal way to discover the joy of flight, learn more about aviation, and what it will take to become a pilot.

You'll receive expert flight instruction including practice on a simulator, which boasts state-of-the-art avionics systems and the latest training technology. You’ll be briefed on the aircraft and how it its controlled in order for you to fly it. 

Highlights:

Startup procedure - Following the checklist to initiate engine start up 

Radio Communication - Receive the weather information and communicate with ATC (Ground and Tower)

Taxiing - Movement of the Aircraft on ground from the parking bay to the runway in use

Take–off & Climbing - You and your instructor will take off from the active runway and climb to the assigned altitude

Departure - Depart Essendon control zone via one of the assigned outbound VFR points

Straight and level - Clear of the zone track to the desired area where you will get to practice various flight sequences related to Private Pilot Licence (PPL) training

Returning to Essendon - You and your instructor will fly the aircraft to one of the inbound reporting points, request the clearance from the Tower

Joining Circuit & Landing - Following the clearance your instructor will set up the aircraft on approach for landing and demonstrate a landing 

All time at the controls counts as flying time toward your private pilot's license

TIF's can be a 1hr or 3hr session with the 

Going Solo Short Course

Amber Aviation has designed a program to develop your skills to a standard where your Flight Instructor feels comfortable to send you on your first solo flight. Going solo is a memorable milestone in every pilot’s life.

If you want to get a little bit more flying experience than a TIF but aren’t completely ready to commit to a full course, then our Learn to Fly Starter Package is a great place to start.

Each lesson can be recorded in your logbook and these hours are counted towards a Recreational Pilot License, a Private Pilot License and a Commercial Pilot License.

Effects of Control

You’ll learn about all the control surfaces and how they are manipulated to move the aircraft around it’s three axes. You’ll cover the theory of the basic effects of control, then step into a real dual controlled aircraft and demonstrate how an aircraft behaves in the air, what happens when the aircraft slows down, speeds up, climbs, descends, how to read your altitude, airspeed and much more

Straight & Level

Straight and Level is your second lesson and the most often used. Once you have completed the takeoff and climbed out of the airport, you will be looking forward to level off at an altitude and cruise for however long you want before coming down to land. This takes up maximum time of your flying experience and is considered one of the most enjoyable parts of flying.

Climbing & Descending

In this lesson you will learn different ways to achieve a climb and descend.. You will learn 3 types of climbs, best angle of climb, best rate of climb and cruise climb. On ground you will learn different application of these and how to achieve it.

• 3 hours Dual Flight Training in Full Motion Flight Simulator
• 3 hours Dual Flight in Cessna 152 or Piper Tomahawk
